Accommodations

Can we tour your place to see where our dog will be vacationing?

Definitely!  To be considered for Comfy Dog Club membership, we do require a complimentary Meet n’ Greet. The meetings last about 30 minutes in which you will have a chance to meet our pack and tour our home. During this time, we will also assess your dog’s temperament to determine if he or she will be a good fit for Comfy Dog Club.  If additional assessment is needed, we may require your dog to attend one day of our Doggy Daycare Enrichment Program for further evaluation.

Do you have a fenced in yard?
  • Yes! We have a large, safe, grassy, park-like front yard with plenty of areas of sun and shade.  Our yard is completely fenced in and has access to our deck and home.
How is Comfy Dog Club different from other boarding facilities and kennels?
  • Comfortable Home Setting. Our business is in our homes, so guests can feel free to lounge out on the deck, play in our safe, fenced-in yard, or just be a couch potato.
  • Experience. Our owner is a certified professional dog trainer that has raised, cared for and trained dogs of all sizes and temperaments for over 15 years. Through her experience she has also developed excellent skills in doggy language and communication.
  • Crate free! No crates unless instructed by the owner (for sleeping training, etc.).  Our guests are free to roam around in a crate free environment.  We want to make sure our guests’ stay is as comfortable and close to their home routine as possible.  If our doggy guests normally use a crate (for sleeping, training, calm time, etc.) we will be happy to accommodate.
  • Freedom. When your dog is in an environment that is not overcrowded, intimidating or stressful, they can feel free to be themselves and let their personalities shine through!
  • Familiarity. Unlike other large boarding facilities where no one really gets to know your dog and the staff changes constantly, here at Comfy Dog Club your pup can always look forward to seeing a familiar friendly face.
  • Extremely conscientious to your dog’s needs. Because we are a small, family-owned business, we are able to get to know your dog individually. Every pup is special in their own way and we make a whole-hearted effort to develop a loving relationship and strong bond with each and every dog we care for.
  • Positive reinforcement is the only type of communication we use.
  • Clean and safe environment. Our play yard and doggy quarters are cleaned multiple times daily.  Only pet-safe, non-toxic, green cleaning products are used.  Unlike other facilities you may have visited, we are not understaffed and overcrowded, so we are able to keep a close eye on our doggy guests at all times.
  • Healthy organic homemade treats available for all guests including bedtime treats.
  • Purified drinking water.
  • Always staffed throughout the night. After all, we live here too!
Do you ever crate the guests?
  • No crates are used unless otherwise instructed by the owner (for sleeping, training, etc.).  We operate in a crate free environment but also want to make sure our guests’ stay is as comfortable and close to their home routine as possible.  If they normally sleep in a crate or if it is used for training, etc. we will be happy to accommodate.
Will someone be at the home 24/7?
  • This our Full-time, stay at home job. We may need to occasionally run out to do short errands, but the dogs are never left alone for long periods of time.
Is Comfy Dog Club staffed throughout the night?
  • Yes! We are always staffed throughout the night.  After all, we live here too!

Communication, pictures and videos

Can I get pictures or videos of my dog while they are staying with you?
  • Of course! Please check and follow our Facebook and Instagram pages to see regular pictures and videos of all our guests having fun on their doggy vacations! Throughout the years we have found that directing all clients to our social media pages has been a very efficient way of keeping everyone happy and up to date on how their furkid is doing during their stay with us without taking much time away from their care.  We do not individually text, call, or email people as it is very time consuming and takes away from the intensive care and attention we give to our guests.  We will, of course, call asap in the rare event of an emergency, if your dog becomes sick or injured or requires a visit to the vet.
Is there a video system I can log into 24/7 to check in on my dog?
  • Since this is our private home, we do not have 24-hour video access for our clients. 24-hour surveillance cameras are set up so that the owners have the ability to view the entire play yard at all times. We are very diligent about posting pictures and videos on our social media pages.  We want to make sure you feel connected to your pup while you are apart and get a good feel on how much they are enjoying their vacation, so you can enjoy yours!

Daily Routine/Hours of Operation

What will my furkid do all day?

Dogs need routine; especially in a new environment.  It is only natural for a dog to feel a bit anxious when in a new place and away from their family.  While caring for a group of dogs in our home, we have found that they thrive on an established schedule.  Learning our daily routine and knowing what to expect when visiting their vacation home reduces anxiety and stress levels significantly.  With a little bit of structure, they can feel secure, relax and enjoy a well-rounded day.

7:00am - 9:00am:  Morning potty breaks & breakfast

9:00am – 12:00pm:  Play yard time, Walks, Games, playtime and socialization with the other guests

12:00pm – 2:00pm:  Lunch (if needed), Nap, Relax, Lounge time

10:00pm – 11:00pm:  Last potty break, bedtime snacks, wind down time while listening to relaxing music

***Activities vary daily

***To aid in proper digestion and avoid stomach upset, all dogs will have 30 minutes of ‘quiet time’ before and after meals

***Check our Facebook and Instagram pages for regular updates and posts of your pup having fun on their doggy vacay! (including pictures and videos)

Comfy Cab

Am I able to drop off/pick up my dog from your house?

Having new people coming in and out of the home throughout the day can be very disruptive and stressful for our doggy guests (and us!), therefore we require our clients to use the complimentary Comfy Cab service for pick up and drop off.

Does it cost extra to use Comfy Cab?

No. Our all-inclusive sleepover and daycare rates include the cost of pick up and drop off service with Comfy Cab.

How does the Comfy Cab service work?
  • Comfy Cab service is your pet’s personal chauffeur at no extra charge. Pick up and drop off is already included in the sleepover and daycare rates.
  • Our Comfy Cab Chauffeur will pick up your dog from your home, place of business, etc and safely transport him/her to our home on the first day of his/her doggy vacay, and then return him/her on drop off day.
  • Comfy Cab operates weekdays 9am - 3pm & 5pm-7pm; and weekends 9am – 3pm
  • When booking your pups’ stay we will set up an approximate pick up and drop off time that will work for you.
  • On drop off or pick up day your doggy’s chauffeur will communicate with you to give you a more exact time via text messages:
    • Pick-up:
      • 1st Text: Sent when we are on our way to pick-up your fur baby along with an ETA.
      • 2nd Text: Sent when we have arrived at the pick-up location and to let you know we have your pup safe and secure and ready for transport.
      • 3rd Text: Sent when we safely arrive at your pup’s vacation destination (our home).

      • 2nd Text: Sent when we have arrived at the drop-off location. In the event that no one is home; we will follow all drop off directions, make sure your pup has everything he/she needs and is comfy and settled in before we leave.
Does someone have to be there for pick-up or drop-off?

There is no need for anyone to be home when we are picking up or dropping off your pup. We will make all the arrangements ahead of time as well as communicate regular status updates on travel day. Clients may also leave detailed instructions for us to follow upon arrival.

What are the benefits of using Comfy Cab?
  • Convenience. One less thing to stress about on your traveling days.
  • Time saver. You will not have to worry about dropping off or picking up your pup within a certain time frame.
  • Safe, Professional, Reliable. No need to impose on family, friends or neighbors.
  • Compassionate.  We offer a personalized service that provides excellent, gentle care for your dog.  Your pup will receive plenty of love and personal attention.
  • Punctual and flexible. We are always on time.  We also understand that schedules change, flights get cancelled, emergencies happen.  If there is a change in plans, we will be happy to accommodate.
  • Less stressful for your dog.  Our dogs feel our stress.  Their owners leaving can become even more stressful if they are being rushed around from place to place or if they have to watch their owners leave them from an unfamiliar location.

  • Come home and relax.  There is no need to rush to pick up your furkid; arrangements have already been made. Your pup is scheduled to be dropped off or will be home safe awaiting your arrival.
What if my flight is delayed and you have already dropped off my dog at my home?
  • In the event of an emergency or unexpected delay, we will return to pick your dog back up and extend their stay with us.
  • Most likely this scenario will be avoided since we are in communication with you up until you are boarding your flight.

The ‘Other’ places

What are some common complaints you have heard about large boarding facilities and franchies?
  • My dog is just a number.
  • The place is loud and intimidating.  Not an inviting environment.
  • My dog comes home smelling like urine.
  • My dog comes home with injuries.
  • The staff seemed inexperienced and uninterested in my dog.
  • I have to pay extra just so my dog can get some attention.
  • My dog is confined all day.
  • It always seems like a different person is there to take care of my dog.
  • My (shy/old/small/really young) dog seems very stressed and fearful when he/she is there.
  • My dog’s personality changed after he/she came home (stressed, anxious, fearful, etc).
  • My dog is left alone all night.
What is the PROBLEM with Kennels And Other Boarding Facilities?
  • Dog to Human Ratio
    • A large number of dogs in crowded settings, with very few staff to clean up after them, will inevitably lead to unsanitary conditions.
    • With too many dogs, and too little staff, dogs become simply a number and are deprived of any special attention they may need.
    • This is an excitable environment, where it can be difficult to relax. It brings out nervousness and aggression in more dominant dogs, while it can be very intimidating for timid or shy dogs
  • Staff:
    • Inexperienced and uncaring.
    • Interactions with constantly alternating staff members deprives your dog of the ability to develop a loving, trusting bond with one person.
    • Putting inexperienced people in charge of watching over a large number of dogs with different personalities leads to chaotic, out of control and potentially dangerous situations. Overwhelmed staff members may not notice or pick up the signals of a play session becoming too rough or a dog showing signs of aggression since it is difficult to keep an eye on every single dog at all times.
  • Add-on costs:
    • If you have researched other dog boarding facilities, you will find out that most charge extra for walks, treats, playtime, even how much attention and affection your dog is given during their stay.
